Chocolate Cake Shots

Welcome to Tuesday Boozeday!  A new post every Tuesday in celebration of making it past the dreaded first day of the week.  Whether it’s back to work, back to school or back to the daily grind of life after a (too short) weekend; kick back and relax with today’s cocktail and prepare to own the rest of the week.

Today’s drink:  Chocolate Cake Shots

I know, I know…shots.  After college are they even acceptable?  My answer is:  YES.  One of my very awesome (and longest) friends introduced me to this drink and it’s by far the smoothest, weirdest, magic concoction I’ve ever tasted.

Hazelnut Liqueur, Vanilla Vodka and lemon wedges covered in sugar.  Sounds completely gross, like the shot would sour (or worse…come right back up!), but I promise once you put that crystal confection covered lemon in your mouth it’s chocolate cake all night long.  I would advise to save this one for the weekend.  The reason:  It’s like your favorite chips in that you really can’t stop at just one.  That very logic has got me in to trouble on more than one occasion, but that’s why I have those very awesome (and longtime) friends.  They keep me steady, laugh with me, and allow me to embarrass myself just enough, but not too much.  Keepers.

Truth:  I had two while taking these pictures.  Just. Like. Chips.  But it’s Tuesday, and I have to work tomorrow, so that’s it!

Chocolate Cake Shots


Servings 2 Shots

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Frangelico
  • 1 Lemon, cut into small wedges
  • Sugar, to coat each lemon wedge

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 1/2 oz (1 shot) of Vanilla Vodka and 1 1/2 oz of Frangelico in small measuring beaker and mix gently

  2. Divide equally into 2 shot glasses

  3. Coat two lemon wedges with sugar and serve alongside drink

Take this shot and immediately bite into the sugar coated lemon wedge!
